Dr. Nissan
I completed my Psy.D. in School-Community psychology at Hofstra University, where I received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I completed my B.A. in psychology at Barnard College at Columbia University where I graduated with honors. My predoctoral externship was at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where I worked in the inpatient psychiatric unit and the outpatient mental health clinic. During my time at Hofstra University, I worked at the Institute for Family and Forensic Psychology, the Child and Family Trauma Institute, and the Positive Psychology Clinic for Emerging Adults. I am also a certified school psychologist and completed my internships in the North Shore, Plainedge, and Great Neck school districts.
My approach to treatment is collaborative and empathetic. I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment to promote well-being, empowerment, and resilience. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help individuals and couples who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, embark on their mission to become the best version of themselves. My treatment plans are individually tailored to meet clients' unique needs.
