About
Dr. Bensoussan
I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical and School Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and my B.A. in psychology from Lander College for Women. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Hofstra’s Student Counseling Services, where I gained experience in evidence-based treatments for a wide range of diagnoses. Prior to my internship, I received training Montefiore Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital; I also spent a year as an extern at Hewlett High School.
With specializations in sexual dysfunctions, couples therapy, depression, anxiety, and OCD, I work closely with each individual in a client-centered and collaborative way. My goals are to help you accept yourself as you are, while also encouraging you to gain insight into the thoughts and behaviors which distance you from the person you want to be and the relationships you hope to create/maintain. I strive to help you identify and acknowledge your thoughts and emotions, without allowing them to take control of your life choices. I hope to provide you with the tools to incorporate changes that will align with your values, and therefore bring you closer to your most meaningful life. By using an eclectic approach of evidence-based treatment modalities, including insight-oriented therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy, we will work together to cater a treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals.
